So, I’ve been working on a content creation framework that helped alleviate the anxiety that comes with being a consistent content creator. You see, I’ve been working more with influencers, content creators, & creatives. And, a common issue that we all have is balancing out time to actually do the work, create meaningful content to share with followers, and to put out content consistently.

I’ve been working so much that I rarely post anymore, but I’m actually capturing photos & video daily from all the things I’m doing. So, as I here others challenges and work through my own, I finally came up with a Content Creation Framework that works for me. I’ll share it with you today:

Objective

So, the goal of this framework is simplify your content creation process, and give you back your time to really be present on a daily basis. Content creation shouldn’t feel like a job, it should be you capturing your footage in an enjoyable way and sharing that story with your followers.

Preliminary Work

Figure out your story and what story you want to tell.

When you’re thinking about this, think about what the end of the journey looks like. This could be something that you’ve already achieved, or something you’re working on.

Step 1

Break your story down to 12 steps or phases.

The key number here is 12! What you’re going to do is focus on creating 12 really good pieces of content first (preferably video). This content will take your viewers on a journey from beginning to the end destination that you’ve decided on. We’ll call this our Core Episodes.

Here’s why 12 is so important in this framework. When you are scheduling this content out for delivery to the public, you’ll be releasing on Core Episode per month.

Step 2

Idea, Beginning, Middle, and End

The next step is to break down your Core Episodes into 4 parts that we’ll call Story Phases.

  • The Idea – Share your thoughts on what you are looking to achieve, your experience that brought you here, and the idea you have today to help you move closer to your goal.
  • The Beginning – This is you taking action and capturing what you’re doing.
  • The Middle – This is all the events & activities that takes place while trying to achieve your goal. This usually the content people skip, because it’s not always pretty. Things don’t go as planned, but the value in your story is the challenges and how you overcome them.
  • End – Conclude what happened, what didn’t happened, what you wished would’ve happened, and how the entire experence moved you closer to your goal, or brought some clarity to your direction.

Why 4 parts? I’m glad you asked…cue the Sesame Street clip!

I kid…I kid…we’ll save it for the next step. The reason we are focusing on these 4 parts of the story is because we’ll release these short pieces of content once a week. We’ll use these as teasers for the Core Episode.

Step 3

Fill in the gaps

I know the question your asking:

“What about all the other days in between, William?!?!”

Well, you’ll fill in the gaps with relevant content, from the Story Phases. We want to keep the viewers engaged and connected to the Core Episodes. Just throwing random content out there, just to fill in the gaps will cause confusion and have people lost in your story. We want them, and you, to be able to find there way back home. Here are a few ideas to use to fill in the gaps:

  • Behind the scene footage
  • Checking in periodically while creating the Core Episodes
  • Photos of you doing the work
  • Capturing images of who you are working with

Be creative and find different ways to fill in the gaps with interesting content that relate to the story, and allows you to capture it on he go.

Each Phase of the Story should yield about 3-4 images or clips.

Conclusion

This is a framework that works for me. I’m not saying that it will work for everyone, but the people I’ve shared it with have seen value in it and made it their own. As a collective we’ve gained our time back, and don’t feel as pressured to dump files, edit content, and release content so immediately. Now, it’s a little more planned with opportunities to share what’s happening real-time if we want to.

I created this easy template for you to print and reuse for yourself. I ripped it straight from my journal & now I’m sharing it with you! Download it for FREE:
