So, bringing value to an intangible product is one of the most challenging aspect of content marketing if you’ve never done it before. Now imagine talking about a touchy subject like INSURANCE. Luckily, I got some creative content ideas for you.

What type of content should I post?

So the main thing for me with insurance agents is establishing awareness for yourself, so that you are top-of-mind when someone thinks about insurance. They best way to establish this is through consistency. If you are new to posting on social media and content marketing I would suggest focusing on text posts first.

Here are some of the post ideas I would suggest starting with if you are doing text:

  1. Post an insurance fact once a day
  2. Post an offer once a week (typically on a Friday)
  3. Post a statistic about the coverage you offer and how people benefit
  4. Post about myths about what insurance

Where should I post?

This is always a tricky question. There really isn’t a particular platform to post on. My answer to this is always to post where your potential clients are and where you have the best chance of reaching them.

This means, if you have a better following on Facebook than twitter I would start with Facebook. If more clients reach out to you from twitter with interest in insurance, more than Facebook i would focus on Twitter.

If you are new I would say pick a place and start. Facebook is a great starting point because you can create text posts that look pretty cool right on their platform.

How frequently should I post?

Post daily. If you want to be top-of-mind you have to be consistent. That’s consistent in the quality content you provide and consistent in the frequency you post. Pick an exact time to post daily. What you’ll come to notice is people will start to expect to see your facts, statistics, and advice.

Stay out of your head about thinknthat you are posting to much. Social media is an ever changing platform. People are posting daily and the latest information typically is on your feed. Your content can and will be buried by the next viral cat meme or crazy YouTube video. JKP…just keep posting!

How can I maximize my results?

Post videos. Get from behind your text post and actually let people get a fill for you and your personality. Social media is a great way to do this. Now, it will fill awkward at first…you know, staring at you phone or laptop and talking to yourself, replaying the video and criticizing your voice, seeing you on the other side of the screen. It’s all good and we all go through it. Post it anyway!

Videos are what can take your awareness to conversions. At the end of the day that’s what you are doing this for. You goal is to purposefully get clients. So, talk to them! Here are a few video ideas I would recommend:

  1. Informational videos (short ones…less than 5min)
  2. How did you get into insurance and why does it matter to you?
  3. Interview satisfied clients
  4. Latest news and how they would be affected if they had your product or didn’t not have your product
  5. Common mistakes of purchasing insurance
  6. How to establish generational wealth through insurance

You could release these once a week on your Facebook or YouTube channel. See what the response is and answer questions. Hope in those DMs and schedule meetings.

Content is an amazing tool for intangible products like insurance. It allows you to establish a relationship with your audience by providing value and information they may not have been aware of before seeing your content. Ask question, engage with your community, and be seen both online and offline and I can assure you that you make a dent in your goal. No insurance pun intended!
