Have to…as in, required? NO! Should you…YES!
For most brands, businesses, and influencers social media networks are like doors into a house. You go in one door and you may see a video teaching you how to use a product (Youtube is great for this). You go through another door and you get reviews of the product (Twitter is a pretty good choice here). Or, maybe you walk through a door and see some cool pictures of people using the product around the world (Instagram).
Each door talks to the audience a different way, but they all serve the same function. Provide info and awareness of my product so that you want more, and can get it from my website.
My Advice
- Create as many social media accounts as you that will make sense for your brand.
- Create a strategy for what you will use each platform for
- Test: Post content consistently for 30 days on each platform
- Assess which platform your audience is most engaged with
- Set a goal for what you want you ultimately want to gain from social media (is it sells, views, likes, shares, traffic to your site, etc)
- Put you focus into the platform where your ideal customer or audience has shown the most interest
- Have a Call to Action that reflects your goal
- Listen to your audience
- Keep creating for your audience
The more doors you have, the more opportunities you have for the right audience to find you! If you are social media marketer I would focus on my platform of expertise, but I would be on any platform that attracts my ideal client.
